"H-A-T-E! It was with this left hand that old brother Cain struck the blow that laid his brother low. L-O-V-E! You see these fingers, dear hearts? These fingers has veins that run straight to the soul of man. The right hand, friends, the hand of love. Now watch, and I'll show you the story of life. Those fingers, dear hearts, is always a-warring and a-tugging, one agin t'other. Now watch 'em! Old brother left hand, left hand he's a fighting, and it looks like love's a goner. But wait a minute! Hot dog, love's a winning! Yessirree! It's love that's won, and old left hand hate is down for the count!"

Rehearsal today went so well. After blocking the whole of the second act and seeing our cast show a truly moving understanding of character and of Hunter's motifs and meaning we were left a very excited pair of directors.
"Film noir is not a genre, and is not constricted by genre.  Detective movies, gangster pictures, science-fiction films, even westerns take place in noir territory. Likewise, it's more than just a visual style, or a whodunnit spiked with hard-boiled attitude.  Film noir is an aesthetic, a cynical and disturbing way of looking at the repressed nightmare lurking beneath the post-war American Dream." The Night of The Hunter looks to bring about this grim understanding of beauty and it's manifestations within the context of the mind of the fanatical killer, those that endure in the face of suffering and of the child. Innocence and experience brought to you as it is in the subjective mind's eye...
